On March 8th, Rexel Group kicked off the program of WiRE – Women in Rexel. The program aims to build Wire networks cross countries to promote Rexel Commitment on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I). DE&I is a business opportunity, not a “feel good” initiative. Our strategy is about our leaders owning the charge and providing global awareness on why better balance will contribute to meeting strategic, innovation and performance objectives. There are 5 dimensions that will help us create significant and sustainable change. We are embarking on a journey, not a series of tasks.
- Prepare our Leaders
- Understand our Current State
- Balance for the whole of Rexel – This is inclusive of gender, race, generation, nationality, disability
- Clear & Precise Vision – As with other strategic initiatives, clearly define the who, what, when, how and why and it’s affects in specific functions, regions, etc.
- Develop and track the metrics that matter
The world is changing fast. Demographic transformation is fundamentally changing today’s global markets and talent pools. Developing and emerging markets make up 60% of global GDP (PPP). 80% of purchasing decisions are made by women. 60% of university graduates are women. 50% of world’s university graduates will soon come from China and India alone (60% STEM graduates). 82% wealth in US held by people over 55. 50% US workforce comprised of millennials, with 10,000 baby boomers retiring per day.
Faced with such a changing world, Rexel is resolved to build a Wire Networks across the world and our concept of this network is Connecting – Inspiring – Empowering. We need make more possibilities for the employees, reserve talents for the future, and help to meet the business plan.
Rexel China is going to launch this program in all the entities step by step. We will try our best to create a working environment with diversity, equity and inclusion.
